Today Molly and I got to go to the West Homer Elementary School where we taught 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th graders about either nutrition or hand washing. We did each, eight presentations! Talk about a long day!! It was so much fun to be with the younger kids and to teach them all about nutrition and hand washing! They were absolutely adorable! It was so much fun to sit down and talk to the school nurse about what she did. She monitors the students with diabetes, administers medications, and checks on recent vaccinations.
This trip has been so amazing. Words cannot say how much this experience has opened my eyes to rural health care and the wonderful students I got to share it with. This has been one of the best trips I have had with fellow classmates and we truly became a family. I hope we all find time in our busy lives in the future to hang out and reminiscence.
