The last day in Alaska we went back to the Alaskan Heritage Center to check out the different people selling items to help pay for the whale hunt in northern Alaska. We were able to try a sample of whale, which was part blubber and the skin. I was surprised by the chewiness of it. We were also able to check out different jewelry and homemade items. After that we went souvenir shopping and spent time walking around downtown. Then went out to eat at a Hibachi Grill. The day was great to hangout with my classmates.
Overall this experience was great and very memorable. We did so much and we were able to learn so much about their rural culture from the workshops and our clinical sites. This opened my eyes to different types of cares and communities in the United States, I am glad I went on this adventure.
