As our final days come to a close I wanted to take some time to talk about the last couple days of our trip. We all finished our Alaskan clinical hours by the 14th of March. That evening we had a wonderful opportunity to have Yauri over for dinner. She is an Alaskan Native from the Aleutian Islands who is also a traditional healer. We had a baked potato bar for dinner, and enjoyed her company for the night. She is a truly special person, and she taught us some her experiences as a healer. She also gave each of us some insight into ourselves which was a great experience that I know I won't forget anytime soon. That night the Anchorage group painted the town red with a trip to The Bubbly Mermaid, a champagne and oyster bar. We enjoyed sharing a bottle of Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Rosé, before we went to Humpy's Bar and Grill (named after the local name for salmon). We enjoyed a well deserved drink, appetizers, and talked about our trip. On the 15th we were then reunited with the group from Kotzebue. We had a delicious brunch ready when they walked in the door. We then spent the day soaking up as much of Alaska as possible. Some groups drove to Hatcher's Pass, an old gold mine where we went sledding down a mountain, as well as stopped to enjoy the scenery. Some went downtown Anchorage to get something that would remind them of this trip. Other's went to the Anchorage Museum where we enjoyed some regional art, and history. We finished up the night at The Crow's Nest. We had a beautiful view of the Cook Inlet, and all had a delicious meal that was well worth the money we spent on it. It has truly been a wonderful trip, where I know we have all learned so much about each other and ourselves. The Anchorage group got to spend time together and get to know one another, and I can't wait to catch up with them all soon! It was an amazing experience with great people, in a gorgeous state, surrounded by a unique and beautiful culture. I hope to get back there again! Thanks for following along! -Megan |
