Wow! The past few days have been crazy! We have been trying to see as much as we can before we crack down and get to business this week. This weekend we got an amazing opportunity to go to the Alyeska Ski Resort, which was absolutely beautiful! There were about eight of us that decided they wanted to go skiing or snowboarding, and the other five decided to go snowshoeing! Myself, being not great at skiing decided to go snowshoeing! We went on the "Winner Trail" and it was absolutely stunning! It was a 5.0 mile hike into the woods which went across the mountains and gorgeous rivers. It honestly reminded me of hiking in Duluth with all of the rivers and rocks, just lacking the mountain view. :) After the hike we decided to go on the tram that took us all the way to the top of the skiing mountain. It was a very cloudy day so we unfortunately did not get to see a lot of the mountains, but still a great experience. On the top of the mountain there was a bar and they had a special drink called "The Fizz". All the locals said that we needed to try it, so we did! It was a very strange concoction. They will not tell you what exactly is in, but we guessed vodka, some type of milk, and nutmeg. It did not taste the best, but it definitely had some local charm! That night we got tickets for a folk-style band and the local bar down the road and let me tell you, IT WAS A BLAST! It was such an interesting bar and the locals were so nice and talkative! This morning we drove back to Anchorage from the resort and rested a bit before going to the Anchorage museum. The museum was all about the history of Alaska and have lots of local artist. It was a great introduction to Alaskan culture that we will be learning more about this up coming week. These past few days have been so amazing! It is so much fun to travel to new places with new people and create brand new friendships! These people are a blast and I think we could not have picked a better group! I will try and post something every day for the rest of the trip! Thanks everyone for reading! Enjoy all the picture from this weekend!
