Excursion Day: Fishing in Homer
Sunday was a fun day. The entire group awoke at 3 am to make the drive to Homer to go salmon fishing on a charter boat. Everyone was tired, it was dark and there were several moose along the road side. The mountain passes were a bit slick too, but we all made it there safely. At the end of the three hour drive the sun was rising over the mountains and was a beautiful site! The weather could not have been better. The temperature was about 40 degrees and the sun shone steadily all day. Due to the size of the group we were split between three boats. There were a few fish caught, alot of laughs, stories, and new friends made. At the end of the day we checked into our beautiful log home rental which was located on the Kilcher homestead (where the Discovery show Frontier Men is filmed). Despite how the show is depicted we were only 10 miles from town! The windows were like picture frames with stunning views everywhere you looked. When we arrived there were two moose waiting to greet us in the back yard, too!!
