Today was the start of our adventures in Alaska. There are 14 of us and we are beginning our journey in Anchorage. The many scenes are indescribable and our excitement is strong. We got in late Thursday night to our rental home (around 3:00AM in MN 12:00AM in AK) so we slept in to adjust our internal clock. Our first day, we experienced some site seeing on our drive through the the Chugach National Forest. There are snow caped mountains galore, which is expected, but quite an amazing view (like the picture above). We went to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center and experienced the site of many creatures, rather than tracking them down out in the wild. Such animals we saw were moose, elk, bison, black tailed deer, red fox, eagles, and owls. On our way back to to Anchorage, we collected glacier water from the mountain side, it was rather tasty! We took the day to a near close with a wonderful Alaska salmon, home cooked meal and spent the evening enjoying each others company. Tomorrow we are venturing to Alyeska for a day of skiing.
