We spent our Saturday packing up our warm clothes and headed to Alyeska, a ski resort about an hour away!
I had never been skiing outside of Minnesota before this trip, so I was pretty excited when we pulled up in the parking lot and I saw the mountain I was about to snowboard down. We split up into down hill skiing and Nordic skiing groups and went our separate ways. I was able to convince Kasandra, Elle, and Chelsea to try downhill skiing for the first time. We started by getting the basics down and going down some green (easier) runs. After we did that for awhile, a few of us that are more experienced skiers decided it was time to go to the top of the mountain.
I cannot describe how beautiful it was at the top of the mountain. The scenery was just breathtaking. I was a little nervous after our first run because it was pretty steep. However we were able to find some runs that weren't as steep but where still at the top of the mountain. We went down a few runs and then had lunch on top of the mountain with all 14 of us. After this we decided to call it a day and headed out!
Skiing down Alyeska was by far my favorite day of the trip so far. I had never been skiing on anything bigger than Lutsen (which is a tiny hill compared to Alyeska). It was such a great time being able to snowboard down a mountain. I will never forget this day!
