Yesterday, we took a non-traditional approach at the Alyeska Ski Resort. Instead of the typical downhill skiing or snowboarding, we went snowshoeing. The trail we hiked was 5 miles total and the trails did not have much snow on them so about half a mile in we decided it would be easier to hike without. We took off our snowshoes and off we went. Towards the end of our hike was a beautiful waterfall, the water looked almost blue, as if it was glacier water. As we progressed, the trail ended with a hand tram which advised you to use at your own risk. The tram was not in use due to the winter months. After this we hiked back to the ski resort where some of us took the actual tram up the mountain side. Words just cannot describe how beautiful Alaska is. After we got back into the resort, some of us went to the hot tub while waiting for dinner to arrive. Our lovely faculty members bought us pizza!! Yum! Another eventful day here in Alaska. As our excursion days come to an end, I am excited to explore the various nursing opportunities that are ahead of us.
