We, the bear and I, hung out for the afternoon and were pretty productive, taking many breaks to enjoy the snowy view and watch the tram to up into the clouds, wondering if I would be brave enough to go on it. Snowy drive to Aleyska, hanging out with the bear, and a relaxing evening at the concert. The skiing crews left bright and early in their two vans while the rest of us puttered about our morning and hit the road mid-morning. It wasn't white knuckle conditions going through the pass but it was a tense drive. |
My crew didn't stress my driving too bad (I think!) and we pulled in to the resort and I sent off the snowshoeing crew - read their blogs for that story. As it happens, I did feel brave enough and got a ticket but had a different adventure instead. A text from a skiing friend to come find her at the first aid station. An hour and a half later with crutches in hand and brace in place we got her settled in our room. Check out Rebekah's blog for her story. Next up was a pizza party and then a concert which was at a cool venue (the pic with the blue patterned ceiling) After a day at a resort hanging out, pizza with pals, and then at a bar venue for a concert with a good band, the sounds of pool being played, beverage in hand and good people to talk to I was feeling young and carefree. A good day.
Bummer news received that sea kayaking was cancelled for Sunday. I have to admit that it was then nice that we then got to sleep in and have a great brunch at the resort. The drive back to Anchorage flew by as snowy roads were now just wet roads.
