Today we took a tour and learned about the Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC) in Anchorage. It's a very large, incredible facility. My favorite thing we learned about was Telemedicine. These are machines that enable us to communicate to rural villages over video and pictures. These machines have saved patients a lot of time and money because they're not having to fly or drive hudnreds of miles for a 15 minute appointment. Instead, they talk to their healthcare provider via telemedicine and get medical advice through that instead. I found this to be absolutely amazing. It amazing to me the technology we have in this world, especially when it comes to health care. Tomorrow we leave for Homer!
