Today started with a group of us volunteering at the Alaska State Basketball Tournament. The basketball tournament was held at the Alaska Airline Center, which is on the University of Alaska-Anchorage campus. We were volunteering at a tobacco education booth to educate people about the effects of tobacco and promote cessation. There were a lot of people at the basketball tournament because basketball is such a huge sport in Alaska. After we volunteered for a couple hours, a few of us went to walk the Coastal Trail. The Coastal Trail is down by the water so it was beautiful to walk along the coast. It was foggy today so we weren't able to see the mountains in the distance though. After walking for a couple miles, we headed downtown to do some souvenir shopping. We stopped in a few stores and I was able to get a bunch of gifts and Alaskan souvenirs for my family back home. After wandering around downtown, Sarah wanted to see some more moose as she hadn't seen many so she looked up on her phone the best place to see a moose in Anchorage. The answer she came up with was Point Worzonoff Park, so Sarah and I drove to the park to see if we could find any moose. We ended up not finding any moose, but we able to walk around some more and pet some Alaskan husky dogs. After we went on our little moose hunt, we came back to the house to start cooking dinner for ourselves and the Homer group who were coming back to Anchorage. It was a good day of educating people about the benefits of quitting tobacco use and exploring Anchorage, Alaska!
